This product is invaluable to me in my kitchen. Instead of stocking up on cartons and cans of chicken broth, I keep this chicken broth powder on hand, made by Frontier.
Because it’s a powder, you can use as much or as little as you want. About 1 1/2 tablespoons, in my opinion, flavors a cup of water just like a good chicken broth. It is actually a meatless product, even though it tastes exactly like chicken broth. The only negative is that it does contain a little corn syrup solids, but, it’s not like I drink this stuff every day.
The powder is really good in soups and stews, and I also use it in white sauces, just to round out the flavor. Try it and see what you think.
You can buy it in bulk at Whole Foods, but because I cook so much, I buy it in 16 ounce packages from Frontier Coop and store it in my freezer. It’s not pricey, either, and it’s way cheaper than buying broth in cartons. I have on occasion used a purchased chicken broth (still not impressed with any of them) but still added some of my chicken broth powder – just for when I really want a chicken-y taste.
There is a vegetable broth powder also made by Frontier but I don’t think it tastes as good.
